WELCOME TO MY DIGITAL SKETCHBOOK
Welcome to my digital sketchbook. Here you will find more out about how I started this incredible journey. I began life in Cornwall where I grew up and studied Art and design at my local college. Cornwall is an amazing place to grow up in, It inspired me in so many ways and I have life long friends and so many memories I would not know where to start.
I continued from Cornwall to Hereford where I studied for my degree in Illustration. I love illustration but I did not drop directly into this field, I can be illustrative but I enjoy fine art and other avenues also, I do not like to be boxed into a type. My specialism and interests after finishing at degree level lay in printmaking and after my degree I started selling my Collograph prints in the local galleries throughout Herefordshire. From here I went back to Cornwall to get ready to move to Bristol where I continued studying art. I became a member of spike island printmakers and studied to be an arts teacher at the local university.
Teaching is a very rewarding profession although can take a lot of your time and energy. I enjoy sharing my skills with young people and love working with them in different settings. On my run up to teaching I spent a year in a boarding school just outside of Bristol as an artist in residence. It was this placement that ensured I was on the right path at this time.
I have been teaching for 10 years now and have had a wealth of experiences and memories. I am now teaching in my home county of Herefordshire and only began this job in 2019. Before this I was teaching in Cheltenham for 5 years and enjoyed many happy times. I have found that loosing myself in creativity has helped immensely during these uncertain times we find ourselves in.
I have the support and the network here in Hereford and in Cornwall which has enabled me to produce the work I had been sketching up for years and to finally produce the website I could only have had imagined. Prior to Herefordshire I spent five lovely years teaching in Falmouth school, years I do not forget.
Finally I will close by saying I am so thankful to the people who have encouraged me and supported me in getting here including all who have liked and bought pieces from my current collections.
